FIFO tickets you need: white card, HR licence, working at heights
The tickets that open the most FIFO doors are a white card (general construction induction), a first aid certificate, a heavy rigid (HR) licence for driving roles, and working at heights for maintenance and construction work. In the 1,793 live ads we track on employers' careers sites, the tickets mentioned most are Driver's licence, Trade certificate, Forklift (LF).
Which tickets do FIFO ads ask for most?
We scan every live ad on the employers' careers sites we track and count the tickets they mention. Ads often leave tickets out, so these are minimums, not the full requirement for each role.

What is a white card and how do you get one?
A white card is the general construction induction card. You get it by completing the national unit CPCWHS1001 (Prepare to work safely in the construction industry) with a registered training organisation, usually as a one-day course.
Do you need an HR licence for FIFO?
You need a heavy rigid (HR) licence for roles that drive trucks over the rigid vehicle limit, such as water carts and service trucks, and it helps with many labouring and logistics roles. In WA, licences are issued by the Department of Transport after a training and assessment course with an approved provider.
What is a working at heights ticket?
Working at heights is training in using fall protection when you work above ground level. It is usually delivered as the unit RIIWHS204 (Work safely at heights) and is commonly required for maintenance, construction and shutdown work.
Which other tickets are worth having?
Confined space entry, forklift (LF), dogging, rigging and elevated work platform (EWP) tickets each open specific roles. Get them when an ad you want asks for them rather than collecting them up front.
A ticket on its own won't get you hired. Pair it with applications: see how to get a FIFO job with no experience.
